Chicago Montessori began as a one-room not-for-profit preschool in September 2005 in the Roscoe Village neighborhood. We have grown to over seventy students ages 18 months to 6 years of age. Chicago Montessori is the first school in the city to be accredited exclusively by AMI (Association Montessori International). This organization was started by Dr. Maria Montessori in 1929 to preserve the integrity of her life's work with children, train teachers, and oversee the direction of schools around the world under her original guidelines. In addition, we offer Spanish and gym classes seamlessly integrated into the daily curriculum. Our school emphasizes facilitating independence as a means to life, the building of character in young children and the individual's contribution to community.
